Extra Blog, Northern Lights

For my final blog of the semester, I'd like to show some of the images I got over the weekend. Brandon Keim, Shane Walk and myself traveled to Molt, Montana last Thursday night to try to get a shot of the northern lights. After figuring out that we had our cameras pointed the wrong way, we finally found the green glow after a 30 second exposure shot. Although the image quality did not turn out very well, it was a fun night and was one of the most photographically- challenging things I have tried to do yet. For the sake of experimenting with long exposure photography, Shane and I decided to try walking through the frame with a flashlight.

Yellowstone Detail

While we were waiting for wolves during our first trip to Yellowstone National Park, I was trying to take detail pictures of a nearby sagebrush. The dense fog lead to condensation of water droplets on the leaves of the brush, which turned out pretty well.

Manhattan Beach Sunset

For Easter my family and traveled to Manhattan Beach in Los Angeles, California. I captured a photo of this sunset from the beach. The container ship sat at anchor all day and night, waiting for the clear to unload at the docks.

Yellowstone Bighorn

<p>

Here is another picture of one of the bighorn sheep we saw at Yellowstone. After scrolling through about a million pictures like this one I decided to edit one in black and white, and I like the way it turned out.
